“And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.” (Romans 8:30)
Dear Lord, I am four days into the new year, and my human flesh has already reared its ugly head. I need you, Lord. All those resolutions I made are already feeling hard and weighty. Resolutions like ________________ (insert your resolutions).
And if they haven’t yet, they will. I simply know it.
But Romans 8:30 tells me that You have given me Your glory and the pure sound of that brings new breath into my lungs.
Your glory, God’s glory. Your blood washed over me so that there is only grace.
Because Your grace is ultimately the pinnacle of your glory.
And holding this promise brings new life again – even after four days. And suddenly, I have hope all over again because your glory is mine. And there I am seated with You at Your right side. You–my Dad, my King, my Counselor, my Overcomer, my Interceder.
Everything You have is mine for the taking, including Your glory. Because You are forming my name in Your mouth over and over again.
________________ (insert your name).
Whispering out Your covering for me, morning, noon and night.
So today I am going to rest in remembering I am called – called straight into Your glory. No matter what resolution (and my shortcomings in achieving it) seems to weigh over my to-do list and human attempts, I will remember what is most important: that You, God Almighty, have called me, mere human, into Your space.
And no resolution will ever beat the beauty of the eternal implications of being called to Your Throne Room of grace.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
