WHAT WE BELIEVE

– What We Believe –

We believe in creating a lifestyle of prayer and community. This lifestyle is simply a launching point for your imperfectly brave life.

Our Foundations

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

God is Father.

He is sovereign over all, including the universe, all mankind and every creature on the earth. He is a well of grace for any person in history, and there is no one too “far gone” to come to the well and be loved by the Father (John 4).

Even the wind and the waves obey Him.

MATTHEW 8:27

Christ is the Eternal Son of God.

He was born of the Virgin Mary and felt all human emotions. His sole purpose was to bring us to God (1 Peter 3:8), and He accomplished that through His ultimate atoning sacrifice and resurrection.

For God so loved the world, that He sent His Son, Jesus, to save us and not condemn us.

JOHN 3:16

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God.

The Spirit is what inspired men to write the Scriptures. He also convicts, comforts, calls and gives spiritual gifts to the believer. He is ultimately the strength we stand on when declaring we are becoming more like Christ day after day (Romans 8:2-6).

Jesus had to leave us so that the Spirit, our Counselor, could come and illuminate our path.

JOHN 16:7

Our Beliefs

Prayer, Community and Church

We believe we are sinners in need of a Savior.

Humanity is not perfect. The Bible reveals to us that there is a sin problem in our world (Romans 3:23). The good news of the gospel is that His love runs so deep for us that He sent His Son to bring us back into His courts. When we repent of our sins and declare our need for God (Romans 10:9), we are brought into a tender and intimate relationship with Him.

We believe in prayer.

Imperfectly Brave began in prayer group–weekly meetings of women gathering to share their joys and burdens and bring them to the Lord. We believe the Bible is God-breathed and our authority. In studying the scriptures, we can learn more about God and His character, as well as how His Word applies to our current situations.

We believe in community.

In a world that is becoming more and more void of relationships due to screens and busy schedules, we make it a priority to create community. There is a great need for community in the formation of a new church. This means meeting as often as we can, breaking bread and praying together (Acts 2:42). Often it is imperfect and loud and noisy, but we do it anyway.

We believe in the local church.

We believe God loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25) and sacrificed Himself for her. We are a mere supplement to all she is doing in the world. Our hope is that women are under the direction and leadership of a pastor and care of church leadership, as Church is where God has moved throughout history.
