In the past several days, I have been inundated with imperfectly brave stories. One of our youth is giving her testimony at her baccalaureate. I got a text of a girlfriend whose youth group friend chose to sing “You Make Me Brave,” rather than some hot new radio superstar (although Megan Trainer, I am waiting for your phone call to go out for coffee – call me, maybe). I am watching moms be imperfectly brave by serving their families like crazy in seasons that are hard and wearing and downright UNFUN.
You have an imperfectly brave life inside of you, too. You do. I know you do because it is how God has worked in all of His scripture.
He draws us to Him.
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws Him.” John 6:44
He begins changing out our insides with the filth and grime and starts bringing in the good stuff of Him — the soul satisfying stuff.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
And He starts whispering to us when we linger in His courts.
“The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given to us.” 1 Corinthians 2:10-12
It is up to us how we react. We must become women of great faith.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6
So, how is He whispering to you? What imperfectly brave step will you take today? True faith actually requires action. To keep you motivated, post this lovely IBL print from Bailey somewhere nearby. Go please Him today by listening to His still small voice. No matter how big or how little it might seem, nothing is more gratifying than obedience to an Almighty God. I guarantee he Has something wild in store for you if you do.
Would you :::
