When our lives stop being vibrant, what do we do? Because, O girl, how I long for nothing more than to live a bright light, love-filled, passionate embraced life for our one true King. So what happens when the colors fade and vibrant is the last word we would say to describe our lives with Jesus – and really our lives in general – because the two go hand-in-hand.
And vibrant is a new thing. It is being renewed in my head. Summer time is a vibrant time. The color of the flowers. The blue that ripples across oceans, lakes and pools. The coolness – the refresh that overcomes our bodies. The green grass that feels like childhood with picnics and laughter and lightness. The beauty of a light summer. The lemonade that sits on our tongues. It is as if summer can quench anything — even a hum drum life — but what happens when it doesn’t?
What happens when hours at a pool reading In Style and searching pinterest still leaves us dry?
I can’t tell you how many times I get distracted. I distract on all the levels. I think fixing one area of my life will led to finding the glue for all my broken pieces. I can’t begin to explain to you all of the times that I have hoped for a dream more than I have hoped for more of God. I can’t tell you how I have hidden – hidden by just staying content with my daily pieces – get up, go to work, eat dinner, watch TV.
But vibrant. Where did it go?
Where did the cool splash of it all go – because as women of God — we see vibrant all over the Bible. That man, Peter, he knew his place. That guy, Paul, woke up and sought God. Moses, he listened and obeyed. Those fisherman. THOSE FISHERMAN. They met Jesus and surrendered everything in that very moment and went on to live the most adventurous life.
Don’t you know you have it inside of you, vibrancy? Don’t you know that your life was created to LIGHT UP YOUR CITY? Don’t you know that the Holy Spirit is longing to speak to you right now? But distractions dull beauty and beauty instructs vibrancy and vibrancy lights up lives. And this is for YOU. In Jesus’ name this is for you.
So the instructions for a vibrant life are here, O girl, hold them in your hands —
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
Today, my sweet girl, I pray that you get with God. I pray that you remember what your life is made for. I pray that you would know that you have overcome the world and that the Holy Spirit is just waiting to give you instructions. I pray for cool glasses of water and new directions. I pray for no more hiding under the dull and mundane — I pray for vibrant – for you to light up your world. And I pray for it tomorrow and the next and the next. A summertime of vibrancy.
